Film transcript (the on-screen text is in Turkish)
- Hattena Design House. Made-to-measure rugs.
- 01 Size. Measure first. A rectangle is dimensioned: 420 cm wide, 280 cm long.
- 02 Texture. Then texture. The rectangle is filled with a woven texture and finished with a dark red edge.
- 03 Shape. Shape follows the space. The rug changes from a rectangle to an oval, then to a single stair step; the steps together form the spiral of a staircase.
- 04 Installation. Made only for that space. Examples shown: living room, yacht and amorphous cut.
- The size of a rug comes from the space. hattenadesign.com

The size of a rug comes from the space.
The size is taken on site, the design is built around it, and the rug is made only for that order. We work in three groups: Sisal, Limited Edition and hand-made Premium tuft.
Three materials, one measuring method
The same size can be made in all three. The difference is in the texture, the durability and how the surface is built.

Yacht interior staircase; curved step, edge turned in binding Sisal
A natural fibre with a tight, matt, cool texture. Because it does not hold footprints, it is used in busy places such as stairs, corridors, yachts and entrances. The edge is finished with binding or a border, and a non-slip backing can be added on request.

Living room installation; base and pattern chosen to suit the space Limited Edition
The name comes from how it is made: each rug is produced once, for a single order. There are four bases (Black, White, Mink and Brown), and patterns in about 55 colours can be worked onto them. The order is always the same: base first, then pattern, then the pattern’s colours.

Amorphous cut; edge line set according to the furniture Premium: hand-made tuft
A surface where the pile is tufted by hand. Because the direction, height and cut of the pile are set by hand, the pattern is not limited to a rectangle; organic and amorphous shapes can be made. For an amorphous shape, the size is taken from the longest width and the longest length. Anti-bacterial, anti-static, flame-retardant, stain-resistant and moth-resistant treatments can be added on request.
A rug ends at its edge
What matters as much as the surface you touch is where that surface is cut and how it is closed. The edge is sewn not to stop it fraying, but so that the form can be read. Cutting to size and edge finishing are done in our own workshop. We use three finishes:
- Binding
- A thin finish turned with a fabric strip. It follows the form exactly; for curved and amorphous cuts it is the only solution.
- Single border
- A single row of fabric strip along the edge. It defines the boundary of the rug and frames the surface.
- Double border
- Two rows of strip with a contrast between them. On stairs, it makes the edge of each step readable from a distance.

On-site measurement, on-site installation
During the survey we record not only the width and length but also the floor, the direction of the light, the furniture layout and the foot traffic. A stair carpet is not made step by step; it is cut to the template, its edges are sewn, the joins are left open and it is joined on the staircase during installation.
The process from measurement to deliveryHotel
Surfaces for lobbies, corridors, suites and meeting areas that stand up to heavy use and suit the character of the space. Pattern repeats and joins are resolved according to the floor plan.
Yacht
Cuts that follow curved forms in cabins, saloons, interior stairs and passages. Measurements are taken on site, pieces are made to fit the yacht and installed on site.
Office
Carpet solutions that bring acoustic comfort to executive floors, meeting rooms and waiting areas, in harmony with the corporate identity.
Stairs
On straight, turning or fan-shaped stairs every step is measured separately; a contrast border and fixed installation make a safe detail that complements the architecture.
Wall-to-wall
Installation that joins bedrooms, hotel rooms, offices and terraces into one quiet surface, with planned seams.

Hold the sample in your hand
The showroom is open weekdays 09:00–18:30, Saturday 10:00–18:00. Bring your measurements and photos of the space; at the first meeting we will decide the base, texture and edge finish together. Production starts only after the sample is approved.
